On behalf of the leadership and all members of the Association of Nigerian Nurses in Minnesota, we want to thank all nurses and healthcare providers who now serve as SOLDIERS in the frontline of the war against the novel Corona Virus causing      COVID-19 infection.

We salute your courage and we pray for God’s protection on you as you labor to help the sick at these difficult times.

  • We ask that while you work, you must FIRST PROTECT YOURSELF and your immediate family whom you return home to every day. Protecting yourself means protecting your family, friends and colleagues.
  • Remember, caring for a COVID-19 Patient is not an emergency. Wear the RIGHT to protect personal equipment (PPE) before caring for a COVID-19 patient.
  • Be purposeful when donning and removing your PPE, high risk for contaminating yourself if done the wrong way.
  • Remember wearing gloves does not fully protect you 100%. ALWAYS wash your hands with soap and running water for 20 seconds after removing gloves and after-touch objects.
  • When running water/soap is not readily available, use 60 % alcohol-based or greater hand sanitizer, rubbing your hands until it completely absorbs into your hands.
  • Be conscious not to touch your FACE, NOSE, AND MOUTH. Avoid the use of your cell phone while at work (COULD BE A VECTOR).
  • It is GOOD PRACTICE to change work clothes and shoes at work before going home.
  • It is also good to take a hot shower once you get home before interacting with your family members.
  • You are already a HERO!!! If you have illness symptoms such as (dry cough, fever > 100.0 F, shortness of breath, sore throat, body aches and pain) please report and isolate yourself from family and co-workers until you are sure you do not have the COVID-19 to avoid spreading the virus to your immediate family.

Remember asymptomatic people can also spread this virus. Treat everyone as if they have the virus. Keep your distance at least 6 feet away when you are with other people. Wear your mask when out in the community and around where there might be a crowd.

REMEMBER WE ARE IN THIS WAR AGAINST CORONA VIRUS TOGETHER AND TOGETHER WE SHALL WIN. PLEASE BE SAFE. DO NOT COMPROMISE YOUR SAFETY!!!
